Sometimes the ones you love hurt you the most. It was a hard fall but I will pick myself back up. I will carry on. I will persevere. I will stand tall, head held high and forever moving forward.
Do you see this? No fucking knee bend bullshit with this woman. She gets down low and it certainly shows. Big up’s to all the people out there who understand how to check their vanity at the door when it comes to workouts and their studies. You are not strong because you can stack 45 plates on some leg press or smart because you can gloss over some notes and make an argument that will get you an A. The appeal of such heavy-duty exhibitions of ego are vane lethargic devils sitting on your shoulders- stop wasting your time.
Hoisting a ton on the leg press may seem more impressive than a measly 200lb squat, in the same way that your name on the honor roll seems more impressive than a challenge that may leave your record scarred, but anyone who has ever painstakingly inched out from a rock-bottom squat knows how much harder it is than pushing an angled sled a few inches, regardless of the poundage. By the same token anyone who has ever challenged their mind knows what true growth in understanding and achievement feels like.
The fact is, nothing is more difficult and more result producing than the squat for bodybuilding– nothing. Fuck all the noise. Stop listening to what everyone else wants for you, stop trying to impress people and you will finally see real results. The most beneficial thing you will ever do is invest in yourself. Read new things, challenge your mind, fuck harder, run faster, ride on 2 wheels, learn a new language, explore other countries, check your privilege and vanity at the door, talk to strangers, lift heavy, eat right and eat big, love wildly and without bounds, don’t ever give in or settle and never stop working to better yourself. Getting older is not a curse it is a luxury.
